About Bill
Bill McDaniel has a longstanding record of leadership in our community, through both business and civic engagement. He launched his first business, The Realty Company, in 1987 and currently owns Big Island Excavating Inc., a mining company with an office located in District 5 in eastern Collier County, and Lazy Springs Recreation Park in Fort Myers. McDaniel employs more than 35 Floridians. Bill was a founding director of Marine National Bank in 1999, located in Collier County, and served as a director for two banks until 2007.
Bill’s civic activities include Masonry, Goodwill of SWFL, and Kiwanis. He has served on several Collier County Commission appointed committees. In 2013 McDaniel was appointed by Governor Rick Scott to the Collier County Housing Authority and served on that Authority until he was elected Collier County Commissioner in November of 2016. He has also served on the National Association of Counties Environment, Energy and Land Use Steering Committee, the Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council Public Safety Committee, the County Government Productivity Committee, and the Immokalee Community Redevelopment Agency.
Bill is the proud father of two children - Kelley and William III. In their free time, the family enjoys outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and boating.
